U.S. Fencing AssociationOrange Coast Division |
The Orange Coast Division of the USFA comprises all of Orange County and that portion of Los Angeles County south of a line formed by the northern border of Orange County in La Habra extended west to the I-710 freeway; then south along the I-710 to Hwy 91; and west along Hwy 91/Artesia Blvd. to the Pacific Ocean.
Ideally situated at the hub of Southern California, Orange Coast competitions are equally convenient for fencers from Los Angeles, Riverside, San Bernardino, and San Diego Counties.
Division Events are held monthly from September through April. Unless otherwise noted, all events are held at Cal State Long Beach in the East Gym. Entry fees for each tournament are noted in the event schedule. Entry fees may be paid in cash or by check. Proof of USFA membership is required.
People who are interested in fencing or learning how to fence in Orange County are invited to review the "Places to fence" section, or contact any of the Division officers.
An issue was raised about the use of proxy votes during the division meeting on May 17, 2009, to a representative of the USFA. After consultation with the USFA, it has been determined that we must annul the original meeting in May and hold a new Annual Meeting, which will take place on July 19, 2009, at the time and location designated on the Orange Coast Division website (www.ocfencing.org). Any motions or actions derived from the May meeting are now void, including proposed amendments to the division bylaws.
At the July 19 meeting, we will need to run through the original agenda from the May meeting, in addition to any new items proposed for the July 19 meeting. Proxy votes will be allowed at the July 19 meeting and, regardless of whether a motion passes to discontinue use of them in the division, they will stay in effect through the remainder of the meeting.
Proxy votes should have a clear description of intent, along with a legible printed name, signature, date and USFA membership number. A flyer will be mailed to the division membership notifying them of the meeting agenda, along with all nominations for officers. All nominees should submit a brief bio to the division Secretary by Thursday at 5pm if they wish it to be included in the mailer. An announcement has been posted to the Orange Coast Division website, following division bylaw protocols. Please contact the Division Chair, Vice Chair, or Secretary via email through the Orange Coast Division website if you have any questions in regards to the above.
